Backed Protocol #7 : Community survey results (2nd part)
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for us to reveal the results of the second Community survey, which was all about our branding and communication strategy. Here is the link to the previous report, if you missed it : https://backedprotocol.medium.com/backed-protocol-6-community-survey-results-1st-part-116a8d8b5d72
Without further ado, let’s begin with our first question !
What’s your opinion on the whitepaper ?
It was hard for us to describe the technicality of our protocol while keeping the whitepaper easily readable and of reasonable length (nobody wants to read a 50 pages long whitepaper !). It looks like our whitepaper was well received by the participants, so we are quite happy about these results. Of course, we must acknowledge that these results are quite biased : people taking the time to respond to our survey are the most dedicated members of the community, so clearly they are more likely to have also appreciated the whitepaper. If you haven’t read the whitepaper, here is the link : https://backed.insure/assets/docs/backed_Protocol_white_paper_english.pdf
What about our AMAs ?
We like AMAs : they allow us to directly answer questions and suggestions from the community, by call or via messages. There are pros & cons to calls or messages : written messages allow people to inform themselves after the AMA by simply reading, while voice calls are more human and direct.
We will continue to interact with the community with AMAs or simply on telegram channels(link will be at the end of this article), so feel free to ask questions and give suggestions !
What do you see in our logo ?
A good logo is crucial for the branding of any platform. Way before launch, we did a lot of iterations on the logo and the overall colour theme of the platform. Fun fact: for a while we wanted an ancient Greece theme for Backed, as Leo and Sacha studied mythology and ancient Greek respectively.
After speaking with investors, we choose the “retro sci-fi” look that you see today in our logo and website. Judging by the results of the survey, it looks like the logo gives the right message.
Suggestions / comments (harsh criticisms are very much welcome !)
The last question was an open one and the responses are interesting : pretty much every single one is unique !
Instead of us making a summary as we did for the previous report, here are the most relevant one “in bulk”, with our commentary after it:
“Do a better job of getting the word out for amas ”

“Initial launch was a bit of a balls up. Need some more promotion and stop pushing dates. If it’s 2–3 weeks for something. Say 3 and if it’s 2 you look great. Instead there have incidents where deadlines push and it looks shady.”
We for sure had some difficulty during the token launch; but we think we did what’s best for the community and the token value. Concerning promotion, we will look into that once the platform has launched on mainnet. Deadlines in software development are hard (as you all probably know), but you can be sure that our team is working hard to deliver; while properly testing the platform.
I am waiting to see the dapp, as i believe this is the heart of the project, and will have more ideas then, perhaps another survey after launch of testnet or dapp.
The survey was open before the testnet launch, and we are happy to say that the platform is indeed running on the Rinkeby network and being tested by the community right now !
Should connect more with non crypto world via LinkedIn
Extending beyond the DeFi sphere is a big goal for us and we are discussing the idea with traditional insurance companies.
Have you considered marketing the insurer product to leverage traders? Could be interesting for them
Traders with risk appetite are for sure the prime candidate to use the Backed platform.
Alright, that’s it for the second community survey report ! We hope the answers from the participants were as interesting to you as they were for us !
